Johnny Borrell

Poor old Johnny does get a hard time of it - he has been having a moan again today about everyone hating him no matter what he does. I must admit I feel sorry for the guy – I like him. He's a great frontman and while some of his lyrics are slightly ropey, he's in a brilliant band. When i spoke to him for last week's Email exclusive he was keen to talk about the album rather than how people feel about him, and that's fair enough. But his attitude to those detractors when we spoke about them – that he doesn't care if people like him or not – is the one he should stick to. Yes, he brings some of it on himself but surely we should judge him on his band's output rather than his perceived personality? For the record, I've always found him a really nice guy, if slightly more guarded recently – but then that's to be expected given the flak he takes.
