As well as the old blogging lark I work as a Development Officer with Family Support Partnership Lanarkshire. We've launched a successful Valentine's Day campaign to highlight that it isn't all flowers and chocolates. For many couples, the expectations of the 14th of February put pressure on their struggling relationship.

Our partnership is offering free counselling to couples with children under 16 in South Lanarkshire. The new Couple Care service is funded by the Scottish Government's Fairer Scotland programme.

In these difficult economic times many couples are cutting back on the luxuries which often add romance to a relationship. Making sure you have professional relationship help shouldn't be a luxury but for many families it is a prohibitively expensive process. Thanks to this new funding we're able to offer relationship counselling sessions for free.

Stephen and Margaret from Burnbank had one of the first free sessions with our fully trained diploma level counsellors this month. Stephen says:

"I sometimes find it hard to talk about my feelings and I know that's been making our relationship difficult for years. Afters a few times with our counsellor I was able to speak openly. It won't happen overnight but things are starting to work out for Margaret and me."

Eligibility for free sessions is determined by postcode. Anyone interested in finding out more about Couple Care can call 01698 421 333 or visit www.familysupport.org.uk

That's my shameless plug over.
